It’s the end of the year and everybody’s doing all sorts of countdowns. As a hardcore music fan, I’m gonna post a list of my favourite songs for all genre.

2011 has been a great year where the American indulge themselves in an overflow of pop/dance musics as you can see from Britney Spears to LMFAO and from Lady Gaga to Pitbull. Of the whole list of Billboard Hot 100 number-ones which consists of 14 different titles this year, merely two of them are neither pop nor dance (or at least not as mainstream), namely Black And Yellow by Wiz Khalifa (Hip-hop) and Someone Like You by Adele (Soul/Blue).

There’s no time to lose! Let’s have a glimpse of my pick of top songs in the 2011.

But first of all, here’s the way you’re gonna ‘decipher’ this post:

  • Only officially released singles are eligible to compete for placing in this chart.
  • The numbers on top of the songs indicate my adoration towards the song which incorporates play count and the addictiveness & message of the singles.
  • The clips are the official music videos unless stated.
  • Release dates of the singles are provided. Together with play counts of the songs (inclusive of the album version and the remixes of the song, in which each of the two will be indicated), they provide an overall picture of the play rate (How often a song had been played since it was released).
  • Hot 100 peaks show the popularity of the songs in the United States, published by Billboard. This sums up the radio airplay, physical and digital sales of the singles.
  • In the last page, I summarised some other songs that did not garner enough points to enter my chart. But the songs still have sustained longevity and are representative of the year 2011.

I hope you would enjoy reading this post as it is purely made for your and my own entertainment. Cheers!

Kick-start the countdown here!
